My god how I've missed these newsletters. Glad you're back! PS, my partner and I have been making chicken milanese on the regular since your newsletter :)
So glad you’re back! And, yes, the plant/food/science/dog person adjectives are ridiculous. It’s part of a general infantilization of language, such as adults calling meetings “play dates” or saying “yay”. I’m in a peevish mood.
Lovely honest reflection. Love it. And re your fear of abandonment, this Breakfast Batchelor eta reader just signed up for your newsletter… so keep being awesome x
i love all of the comments below. and concur. go for it, alex. you will not regret abandoning "branding" and going with your own thing. ALL of it! and the book. so exciting. congrats.
I love this so, so much Alex. I’ve always felt really put-off by the concept of personal brands (not a great way to feel with our current society haha) because people are really complex and I think it’s nuts to distill a person down to *one thing*. So, I really appreciate your putting this out there! Also, I just love your writing and drawings, no matter what they’re about! Here for all of it :-D
Yours is the best statement ever on being a person, not a brand or a soundbite or an elevator pitch. I'm glad you're back.
Congrats! Loved seeing this pop up in my inbox. Hope we'll be seeing more of you soon. :)
