hi alex, so delighted to read/view this....and in learning to love the process, the tomatoes always do riper and mature. my garden is absolutely luxurious this year because of the monsoon rains we are finally experiencing in new mexico. but, having been an artist for the past 50 years, i learned, as you are, that the process is everything...and that, always, if you stay deeply enough in process, the "product" will come. but not thinking about the "product"...except to get started and then letting the process take over. always the process, the exploration. recently, with a single dot of red, i completed a 6' by 8' painting that i made 20 years ago...something had always bothered me about it...and that single red dot took its time arriving but then, when it did, the piece was finished...

Tending the garden is meditation for me. There's no failure, the process is a gift, along with an occasional abundant harvest with no struggle. To make veggie growing easier, try building raised beds! No more tilling, less bending, fewer weeds. Always keep the dirt covered with mulch! It's food for the worms, which till and fertilize for you. Mulch keeps the soil more moist, and regulates its temperature. Making your own compost and fertile soil can be fun. Put your grass clipping, leaves, plant based kitchen waste, wood ash, etc., in a pile and wait. Turning makes it compost faster. My garden starts with the compost piles (ready, in process for the following year). Happy Gardening.
